Dust Collection SystemOur thirty horsepower dust collection trailer does an excellent job with wood floor dust. The dust literally leaves the floor and the next stop is outside of your door. The dust is collected and contained so that we can focus on the sanding process.
There are several advantages to using a dust collection trailer that seem obvious; clean air and a clean home. But, there are a few advantages to our workmanship that help. The primary advantage is that dust is not continuously underneath the sander creating scratches and weird abrasion problems that can show up later in staining. The trailer does have extra operating costs with fuel and maintenance. However, we feel that this cost delineates us from average craftsman who overlook the cleanliness of the job. We consider it a key service item to our customers to prioritize dust collection in their home. For that reason we invested in our dust evacuation trailer. |

Beneath Your Feet
by Eric Rose, Owner of Paragon Hardwood Floors
Traditional solid wood flooring is making a comeback as homeowners become educated, and as traditional wood flooring craftsmen have separated ourselves from the "floor covering" trend. Appreciation for artistry and skilled craft is once again gaining steam in America.
A Sustainable Product
Aside from popular belief, most solid wood floors come from farms of trees that are grown specifically for the wood flooring industry, and solid wood flooring is a sustainable product. Craftsmen have the benefit of purchasing our flooring directly from the mills that make it—this removes the middleman, giving the client an honest and affordable choice. It takes approximately 60 years for an oak tree to mature to the point of harvesting, but a solid, site-finished wood floor should last the life of a home, which could be well over 100 years.
Natural Beauty
Solid, site-finished wood floors can be refinished-if done correctly-many, many times. In fact, it is not uncommon to refinish a wood floor that is several centuries old. Solid, site-finished wood flooring is a healthy and environmentally friendly choice for you and your family. With the natural finishes we have in the industry today, we can use one natural product to enhance another natural product, giving the floor a very unique look and extremely easy-to-repair surface-not like some of the other flooring choices that are designed to fail and are made from plastics that have potential health hazards.
Multiple Options
The designs that can be created with solid, site-finished wood flooring are infinite: borders, inlays, mixed media, distressed, wire-brushed, hand-scraped, parquetry, custom colors, healthy finishes and the list goes on. One of the most common and historic designs on a wood floor is a hand-scraped texture. Before the wood flooring industry was introduced to sanding equipment, wood floors were installed and scraped by hand. The scraping process is a labor-intensive process that requires skill and artistry. There are machines that many factory-finished manufacturers use to try and replicate a true hand-scraped floor, but none achieve the same feel or appearance as a true hand-scraped wood floor.
Choose an Artisan
When choosing a solid, site-finished wood floor, you are more likely to encounter small business owners who are extremely passionate about their craft and ARE artistic in nature. The site-finishing wood floor craftsman works with an Old World style using highly skilled craftmanship that has a great tradition and history. When choosing the floor for your home, don't let anybody tell you that nobody installs, sands and finishes wood floors on-site anymore. We're out here, and the products we can offer are second to none. We may not be the guys in the nice dress pants who show up in a Prius with samples from the big showrooms, but I guarantee a traditional wood floor craftsman will give you the largest piece of furniture in your home-made by hand with love.
